Living Costs
Student Loan
consolidation is important but nowhere near as important
as reducing how much it costs you to live. The reality is
that every unnecessary expense is an extra waste of
precious resources.. If you can reduce your living costs
and channel the savings to offset your debt costs so much
the better.
There is no real
reason why you cannot look at how much you spend on food,
clothing, electricity and all the other areas of life.
All it is going to take is to become budget conscious.
Just start thinking about about it and determine to rid
yourself of debt as soon as you possibly can. Talk to a
few of the different social budgeting services about
getting a student loan consolidation plan
together.
Talk to a budget
advisory service if necessary. There are plenty of
options available - you just need to look around. Try
not to focus too much on the size of your debt and
instead focus on ways of generating more money and ways
of living differently to reduce your outgoings each week.
If you think you are going to sink below the threshold of
decent living see what you can do to provide a cash
injection.
You may have to
sell a fancy car, and trade down for a little while but
it will be worth it. Remember life is a long song and,
once you stop filling up other peoples pockets then you
can begin filling your own. You can claw your way back to
the top if you have to. In fact, as Napoleon Hill said,
if you can conceive, and believe in a thing then you can
achieve it. The fact of the matter is quite
simple.
What you get is
not as important as what you do with
it.
Nowhere in life is
this applicable moreso than in the world of money.
Think that if you get, say, $100, and choose to invest it
at a rate of 5%, at the end of the year you will have
$105. But if you spend it on a CD player you will have no
profit plus incur costs (cd's, electricity) to be able to
benefit from "investing" in the CD
player.
Stop, and think
about this:
Whilst we all
acknowledge there are certain definite things we need, to
live, they do NOT have to be the biggest or the
best.
Remember - The
Mercedes Benz convertible can only go as fast as the
School bus in front of it, and it is almost certain the
cost of insurance alone on the Merc. could buy a whole
Toyota car. Are you really going to stay in the poorhouse
just for the sake of appearances
?
